New Winds

Well it seems lately that with the big changes that are taking place in my life more big changes keep presenting themselves to me. Out of all of these changes though I have not come across one bad one. When they say "When one door closes another opens" they aren't lying. God sure has a way of taking care of us.

About two weeks ago I came upon what is definitely the biggest change in my life right now. For the past 2 years I have been in bands and writing music. It started out with a couple of kids from Basha and Hamilton hoping to be just like The Maine. I must say although we did seem to be just knock offs of every other pop band that was out there I enjoyed myself more than ever. It was fun jumping around and always playing fun music that you could tell brought smiles to peoples faces. If I could go back and do it all again. I would go back a thousand times. I have some of the greatest memories with all my pals from This Season's Love and I am very grateful that I was able to create those memories with them. After about a year of playing with the guys in This Season's Love I started to become a little bit tired of playing the pop type of music and I really wanted to start getting into really articulate and more involved music. I had been discussing starting a band with a couple of friends who I played with in the worship band at my church. It started out as sort of a silly idea, but then eventually became real and became a band called Bearhug.

Bearhug became some of the most musically maturing months of my life. I was challenged with writing stronger lyrics and stronger melodies and I have to say it was never, ever easy. During those writing processes I always found myself getting very frustrated, but there were always great friends in the band to help. I would say that my biggest help when it came to writing the lyrics and melodies was for sure Jeremy. He always went out of his way to make sure that I was getting them down and feeling confident about them. When my confidence would start to go I would always have Jon there to pick me up and keep me going. (especially during the recording proccess! Super frustrating). The biggest difference between playing shows with This Season's Love and playing shows with Bearhug was definitely my stress level. With This Season's Love my only concern was singing the right notes. When it came to Bearhug I was worried about singing notes, hoping that nothing would go wrong with the programming, playing key parts and playing percussion parts. It doesn't seem like a whole lot, but when you go from just singing to singing and plenty of other responsibilities real quick, you get a little stressed (at least I did.). In the end it was a great experience for me and has made me a more well rounded person. This leads me to a little news...

A Little over two weeks ago Bearhug decided to let me go. There were no conflicts between any of us, we are all still friends. I would say that their main reasons for letting me go was my schedule (work nearly every day and a girlfriend who needs some lovin), and they saw a lack of motivation within me towards the band. I have to say personally I put forth my best effort and did the best I could. It is my understanding that they are planning to have Jeremy do the singing from now on, and carry on as they have. Again, I have no hard feelings what so ever towards any of the Bearhug boys and I hope that they continue to write their music soley for God and keep up their amazing talent through music full throttle.

Now you might be questioning if I am going to be doing music any more. The truth is right now in my life I can only play two instruments fairly well ( at least I think so.) I can play the drums and I can sing. I'll be honest that isn't going to be helping me very much if I want to be a solo artist and that is all I want to do if I was to start writing music again. I am planning to start taking some guitar lessons and maybe doing a few acoustic songs here and there (most likely covers to start), but with time I would like to write and record every instrument in future music. Reguardless of what I do with music I still plan to live my life completely for Jesus Christ and hope to be the best example of his love that I can be.

Thank you so much to everyone who has followed and supported me thoughout all of my music. If you want to keep up to date with my life I will try to get on this as much as possible, but you can also follow me on twitter (twitter.com/maxmullet), Myspace (myspace.com/maxmullet), or facebook (facebook.com/maxmullet).

I Love you,
Max Mullet

Bearhug (one word)

As some know I have started a new band. What many don't know is the details. In this little blurb I will give you as many details as I can. First off, the name of my new band is Bearhug. As too the origin I really am not too sure, one day Me, Jon, and Jeremy were all talking about if we start a band what should the name be, and Jon said "Bearhug," so we said "ok." Pretty simple. The band consists of four members, Me-Vox, Jon Hubbell-Guitar, Jeremy Lilly-Bass, and Austin Scates-Drums. We have been together as a band for a little over a month now! Everything is happening extremely fast. We have played two fairly small shows and last Saturday we started to record our songs. We are not positive on the exact date of when we are releasing our Myspace page (www.myspace.com/wearebearhug) and everything, but we are hoping to a couple days before or after Valentines day. That is pretty much all I can give you as far as right now, other than that follow me on twitter (twitter.com/maxmullet) for studio updates!

First Timer

Jon convinced me. The Chuck wagon and I were all just sittin halfway in cafe and thats where it all began. Murder in the dark, with Ax and all. We'll see how this little shin dig ends up workin out for me, but if you slowly see that I'm not makin it on this sucker, I wouldn't hope for the best. In the end I am still in Cafe today till 3:00PM, if you're feelin lucky don't come by. There's no room for characters here. We'll see everyone when the Ice cream machine is fixed.
